Get Your Garden Ready For Summer – With New Garden and Patio Lighting
With spring finally here and the long cold winter firmly behind us, the time has come to get out into the garden for that post winter tidy up and prepare for the warm summer months to come.
The evenings have started to draw out now and the temperature is rising steadily, meaning we can finally start to enjoy our gardens again. Soon it will be the time of year to invite friends round for drinks and eats in your outside space.
To make your exterior entertainment area as comfortable as possible for your guests, ensure that it is as warm and inviting as it can possibly be. This can be achieved through the addition of quality garden furniture, a gas / charcoal burning barbecue or a wood burning stove, a patio heater and carefully placed outdoor lighting.
It is a real shame to have to draw an evening to a close earlier than you’d like, because of failing light, especially if it is one of those evenings that is going so well, you wish it would never end. With quality outdoor lighting from inspiring lights it does not have to end quite so soon.
Why is lighting so important outside?
The later and darker it becomes, we begin to rely upon exterior lighting to help us see what we’re doing. This is especially important from a safety point of view, around the food preparation or barbecue areas. It means we can continue to produce good quality, well prepared food for our guests, without having to worry about whether the meat has been cooked properly. It also allows us to continue eating and socialising well into the evening, a real joy on those long, balmy summer nights.
The barbecue and patio areas aside, quality exterior lighting can be used to highlight points of interest or natural beauty within the garden itself. You may wish to pick out the bark of a magnificent tree or the dramatic shapes formed by a collection of bushes.
Perhaps you have a statue in the garden, a love seat or a pergola that would create a magical focal point, under coloured spotlights. Flowerbeds and borders can be lit up and you can guide your guests around your garden by illuminating the main pathways. These two effects could be combined to highlight points of interest along the way.
From a safety as well as an aesthetic viewpoint, lighting near a pond or swimming pool is a must. Not only does it look beautiful as the light reflects off the ripples in the water, but it also helps to prevent people from accidentally falling into your water feature.
Exterior lighting also offers a high degree of security. Motion sensitive lighting or PIR’s (Passive Infra-Red sensors) can be installed around the garden or at the entrance to the home to alert you to any movement around the outside of the building.
